ABOUT

About ME

I am a certified Alberta teacher with over 16 years of experience in one of the province’s largest school boards, but my deepest expertise comes from home as a single mother to two daughters with speech delays and learning disabilities. I founded Charted Roots Education to bridge the widening gap between home, school, and government policy. Having walked alongside thousands of families through every milestone—from the first days of preschool to the complexities of the later years—I know firsthand how overwhelming and conflicting parenting advice can be.

BELIEF #1

Government: Data-Driven Policy

I believe governments must stop reacting with short-term fixes and start looking at long-term data and professional expertise to create strategic policies that actually support the complexities of modern classrooms and families..

BELIEF #2

Society: Parenting for Modern Needs

I believe society thrives when parents move away from outdated or high-pressure styles and adopt parenting strategies that foster the independence and resilience children need to succeed in today’s world and support the school environment.

BELIEF #3

Schools: Universal Design for Learning

I believe schools must fundamentally change to recognize that not every child learns the same, shifting toward a system that honours diverse learning needs and provides educators with the strategic support required to reach every student.

My Mission

To provide parents with the clarity and practical tools they need to foster resilience and independence, effectively reducing the pressure on our classrooms and educators. Beyond the home, I advocate for systemic change by consulting with school boards and governing bodies to influence policies that sustainably support the families and educators of today. I believe that how we support our children now shapes the learners and leaders they become tomorrow, creating a cycle of success that impacts our nation for generations to come.

"The way we talk to our children becomes their inner voice. If we provide them with a foundation of resilience and the freedom to navigate their own struggles today, we are giving them the compass they will use to lead tomorrow. Our job is not to shield them from every storm, but to prepare them to be the steady pilots of their own lives. When we invest in their roots now, we are ensuring they have the strength to stand tall as the leaders, thinkers, and parents of the next generation."
